Workshop Software vs Orderry

The real question on this page is not which product has more features. It is whether you want automotive software or general business software with an auto repair landing page. Orderry is an all-in-one platform sold into six industries, from electronics repair to beauty and retail, with more than 80,500 businesses across 62 countries. Workshop Software is built only for automotive workshops. If you run a shop alongside other kinds of business, Orderryโ€™s breadth is the point. If you only fix cars, breadth is what you are paying for and not using.

What is Workshop Software?

Workshop Software is cloud workshop management software for independent automotive shops, mechanical repairers and multi-location groups. It runs the booking diary and workboard, job cards, estimating and invoicing, inventory, digital inspections, automated service reminders built around vehicle history, and a customer portal, with reporting through Workshop Intelligence. Because it only does automotive, the automotive parts are there: manufacturer repair times through native Mitchell 1 ProDemand and PartsTech integrations on any plan, vehicle lookup included through Carfax, and parts ordering through Burson EzyParts, Repco Navigator Pro and Parts Authority. It is a listed app on the Intuit QuickBooks App Store and connects natively to QuickBooks Online and Xero on every plan. Pricing starts at USD $149 per month on annual billing. There is a 14 day free trial with full features and no credit card required, and no lock-in contract. See full pricing.

What is Orderry?

Orderry describes itself as an all-in-one platform for small business, bringing jobs, scheduling, customer communication, inventory and payments into one system. It reports more than 80,500 businesses across 62 countries. The registered entity behind its apps is ORDERRY LLP of 5 Percy Street, London. It covers work orders, scheduling, online booking, inventory across multiple warehouses, point of sale, invoicing, a unified customer inbox and more than 20 report types, plus a set of AI tools for call transcription, reply suggestions and photo recognition. Pricing runs from USD $39 to $199 a month with a 7 day free trial and no credit card. The same core product is sold to electronics repair, general repair, auto repair, equipment maintenance, field service and retail. Its auto repair page does not sit on top of an automotive-specific module, and G2 lists Orderry under Field Service Management rather than auto repair.

Orderry is cheaper, and at entry level substantially so: USD $39 against our $149. Two things sit behind that number. The entry plan is capped at 100 work orders per 30 days and one location and cannot be extended, and it includes no automotive capability at all. Their higher tiers land at USD $69, $99 and $199. They also include more users at lower rates, from USD $6 each, with per-tier maximums. If headcount is your main cost driver, they win that comfortably. SMS works differently rather than costing differently. Orderry includes no message allowance at all. You open your own Twilio, BulkSMS or Zadarma account, fund it, and check the balance on the gatewayโ€™s site. Workshop Software meters credits through the platform at 2 cents a message in the United States, billed with your subscription. Theirs may work out cheaper per message. Ours is one bill and no second account to set up.

Automotive Software, or General Software With an Automotive Page

Orderry sells the same core product to electronics repair, general repair, auto repair, equipment maintenance, field service and retail. That is a deliberate strategy and it works for plenty of businesses. It also means the auto repair page is a landing page rather than a module. What that looks like in practice: no manufacturer repair times, no labour guide, no parts catalogue, and no automotive data provider anywhere in their integrations directory. Their VIN Lookup returns make, model, year, body, doors, engine displacement, fuel and horsepower, alongside IMEI lookups for phones and HIN lookups for boats. It identifies things. It does not tell a technician how long a job should take. G2 lists them under Field Service Management. Workshop Software only does automotive. Mitchell 1 ProDemand and PartsTech repair data inside the job card on any plan, Carfax vehicle lookup at no extra charge, digital inspections, service reminders built around vehicle history, and parts ordering through Burson EzyParts, Repco Navigator Pro and Parts Authority.

Quote Labour From Real Repair Times

This is the difference that shows up in your margin rather than your feature list. With Mitchell 1 ProDemand connected on any Workshop Software plan, you quote from manufacturer repair times rather than from memory. Under-quoting labour is one of the quietest ways a workshop loses money, and it is very hard to fix with a general-purpose work order tool. Orderry has no labour times data and no automotive data provider to connect to, so labour pricing comes down to your own rates and your own estimate every time.

Accounting: Two Integrations Against Three

Credit where it is due. Orderry connects to QuickBooks and Xero, both two-way, and for a lot of shops that is enough. Those are its only two accounting integrations. is not supported. Workshop Software is native on QuickBooks Online and Xero on every plan, and is a listed app on the Intuit QuickBooks App Store. Intuit reviews listed apps against its published technical and security requirements, and runs its own security scan of them every year. One more to check if you are outside North America: Orderryโ€™s tax documentation covers inclusive and exclusive tax types and tax groups, and does not mention GST or VAT by name anywhere. That does not mean it cannot be configured, but nobody has written it down for you.

Messaging: Where Orderry Is Ahead of Us

Orderryโ€™s unified inbox handles two-way WhatsApp and SMS in one place, with Instagram Direct and Facebook Messenger in the same view. For a shop whose customers message on WhatsApp, that is a real capability and we do not have an equivalent. The catch is the plumbing and the tier. Orderry includes no SMS allowance, so you open and fund your own Twilio, BulkSMS or Zadarma account and check the balance on the gatewayโ€™s site. Two-way WhatsApp and scheduled SMS require the Business plan at USD $99 or above. Workshop Software meters SMS credits inside the platform at 2 cents a message in the United States, on one bill, with nothing to set up. On channel breadth Orderry wins. On setup and billing we do.

One App, Not Two

Orderry splits its mobile product in two: a staff app and a separate Dashboard app for owners. The staff app holds 3.9 from 26 ratings on Google Play. The rest of the store ratings across both apps run to single digits, so there is not much to read either way. Workshop Software has one free native app on iOS and Android. On Gold and above it carries the full job workflow: digital inspections, bookings, estimating, invoicing end to end, photos, clock on and off and push notifications. One app, one login, whether you are the owner or on the tools.

Reporting Built on Automotive Numbers

Orderry offers more than 20 report types and connectors to Power BI and Looker Studio, which is genuinely useful if you already run business intelligence tooling. There is no peer benchmarking. Workshop Intelligence is included on Gold and Platinum with five screens built around the numbers that decide whether a workshop makes money: Pulse, Scoreboard, Opportunity Finder, Benchmarks and Advisor. Labour gross profit, technician efficiency, average invoice value, customer retention and the work you quoted but never won. Twenty generic reports against a smaller number of automotive ones is the same trade as the rest of this page.

Which Should You Choose?

Choose Workshop Software if automotive is your whole business, you want manufacturer repair times and vehicle data in the job card, you order parts through Burson, Repco or Parts Authority, your books are in you want reporting built on automotive metrics rather than generic reports, you want one app rather than two, you have no job volume cap, or you want a vendor whose only product is workshop software. Orderry may suit you if you run more than one kind of business on one system, price is the deciding factor and your volumes fit inside the entry plan, your customers message on WhatsApp or Instagram, you need more users than our plans include at a lower rate, or you already run Power BI or Looker Studio and want your operational data in it. If cars are all you do, put a fortnight of your own jobs through both and see which one knows what a vehicle is. Start a free trial.
