“We really like the facebook tips and find the software impacting our business in a positive way

There was a lot of fun and a level of serious competition at Workshop Software with our very own Shark Tank.
The system was much like the popular TV show Shark Tank with a panel of Investors, and teams pitch an idea to the investors with the goal of having them make an investment in the company or idea that is being pitched.
In our scenario the panel of investors consisted of some of the Workshop Software leadership team with CEO James Mitchell (aka Andrew Banks), Operations Manager Sandra Hendriks (aka Naomi Simpson) and Marketing Manager Jim Greathead (aka Glen Richards).
The presentation teams were either 3 or 4 team members who formed a pitch of an idea that could be implemented in the Workshop Software business.
Some of the presentations were very interesting, including team “Shark Bait” who pitched and idea of creating a system to implement supplier invoices into Workshop Software via OCR scanning. Team “Runtime Terror” had an inventive idea of how to greatly enhance the customer experience through some amazing ideas on how to help customers through their Workshop Software Experience. Team “Queens” pitched an idea about how the Mobile App may be improved, including some interesting mapping options for mobile mechanics.
This was all hosted by our awesome hostess Denver, who organised the whole event, including the picture you can see of our esteemed judges, and an interesting scoring mechanism for the judges to opt “In” or “I’m OUT”.
All in all it was a fun exercise where everyone had a great time, but also had a very important element of teamwork, organisation and presentation skills. The team needed to demonstrate that they could work together to create a cohesive pitch, plus something that was relevant to the business. The outcome was some great ideas, an exciting event and lots of learnings along the way.
