Decision making in any business is helped greatly by valuable and useful data.
Know what’s going on in your business helps you to make business decisions, can form future direction, help manage your team and much more.
Knowing what type of products and services you are selling can be a big part of that valuable data and can help you when you need to make those important decisions.
Imagine this. You are thinking about getting a new piece of brake equipment. Would knowing how much sales are attributed to brake jobs be valuable in making the decision to potentially spend thousands of dollars on a machine. It may play a part in formulating strategies to get more brake related work, and maybe you can you can do some testing by making some small changes in your business first to see if they make an impact in a certain area of your business. You’ll be able to run the reports for one period, and then for a subsequent period and analyse the results.
That’s where Product Categories and groups come in.
The simple set-up of the Categories, then allocating the appropriate groups to those categories will allow you to run the required reports to get the information you need. Simply run the Item Sales Report and output by Product Category to get totals for each category. You can even export the report to Excel and do some data manipulation in there.
Check out this short video on how Product Categories might be able to help your business.
The Product Categories is provided to all Workshop Software users on a Gold Level subscription of Workshop Software and is included as a part of Workshop Software Gold and above.
