Why the manual sync button is important!
In this article today we are going to share with you why the manual sync button is an important function of Workshop Software if you are integrating with any of the accounting package.
But firstly do you know what the manual sync button looks like or where to find it in Workshop Software?
If you have set up your accounting integration with Workshop Software, you will then have noticed that the logo for your accounting software now appears in the top right hand corner of Workshop Software.
What does the manual sync button do? When you click on this icon this will perform a manual sync which means it will force Workshop Software and your accounting software to talk to each other and “sync” across any new information each needs to share.
Since this button forces the systems to talk to each other and update then we recommend as best practice is to click on the manual sync button at the end of each day to force the system to sync across transactions from that day to your accounting software.
When you process transactions throughout the day the system will automatically try and sync that particular transaction across, but if for whatever reason it cannot sync an error report will not be recorded. A manual sync on the other hand will not only force the system to sync but also report on ANY errors it has and you can follow up these the next day by running the Event Log Report and keep on top of your transactions syncing across ready for when you need to reconcile your books.
By proactively actioning this on a daily basis as part of your opening and closing procedures then you will only have a couple of errors (if any) to look into which is much more easy to handle than to look at these on a monthly (or longer) basis.
